The papers to sell your car: the complete list so there is no second trip

Registration certificate, technical card, contract, notification of sale: everything to have ready on the day, and what to do if something is missing.

Selling a car with half the papers drags the deal out, hands the buyer excuses to haggle, and at worst kills it. The list is short; having it complete on the day is what makes it powerful.

The car's

Registration certificate and technical card. If the car was financed, add the lender's settlement letter cancelling the retention of title — without it a prudent buyer won't close. All the keys you have, and the service book if it exists.

The deal's

Sale contract in duplicate with date and time, and the current year’s road-tax receipt. If there was a prior deposit, its receipt with the agreed terms.

The ones filed afterwards

The notification of sale to the DGT — yours, same day — and the ownership transfer — the buyer's, within 30 days. Plus telling your insurer to cut the policy.

If something is missing

Lost certificates are requested as duplicates before advertising the car, not after finding a buyer. Anything that forces an “I’ll send it to you later” after getting paid is an avoidable conflict.

The version without a list

At Autamo the platform asks for each document at its step, verifies it, and won't let the case advance with gaps. The list still exists — the system carries it instead of your memory.
